
Reservation Requirements

Vaccinations
These must be current for a minimum of 7 days before any pet can stay with us. Even with regular disinfecting, it is possible for your pet to contract a virus or bacteria. For this reason, it is important for you to communicate to us any illness or irregularities you notice with your pet(s).
At Thousand Hills Pet Resort we require proof of vaccines before any pet can be boarded, groomed, or use daycare. Vaccination records must show the vaccination type and expiration date (ex. Rabies exp 6/7/2017). Required vaccinations are as follows:
Dogs
DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis (CAV-2), Parainfluenza, Parvovirus) & Rabies
Cats
FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) & Rabies​

New Customers
For the safety and comfort of all of our new guests, we require at least one day of daycare before any overnight boarding and before being accepted to come to daycare regularly.
This day of daycare is free and will be considered an evaluation during which we will get to know the dog’s personality, play style, energy level, and more. Our staff is trained to monitor dog body language and we will assess how your dog does in our environment.
Our facility has a lot of new smells and sounds, so it can be very stimulating and possibly overwhelming to many dogs! We want to ensure that new guests will be comfortable with the environment, other dogs, and our staff during their time here and we also want to ensure that our facility is a proper fit for them. ​This daycare visit must be at least an entire day before any boarding stays and last a minimum of 3 hours.

​For our guests that do not live within San Luis Obispo County and are unable to visit for daycare before their boarding stay, we will treat the first day of their visit as their evaluation. If for some reason our facility is not an appropriate fit for the dog, we will ask the owner to come pick up their dog and will keep them on their own until pickup.

Daycare does not require a reservation. We have two daycare areas (Main Daycare and Boarding Daycare). Feel free to pull up to either location and ring the doorbell to have a Host assist you with getting checked in. Please note on weekends that only Boarding Daycare is open.

During moderate rain, dogs are moved into our lodgings. Space is subject to availability in the boarding facility. While space is typically available please feel free to call ahead to ensure there is room for daycare pets on rainy days (in particular, during holidays and weekends).

Early drop-off is an additional $5 fee. Passes do not cover early drop-off.

Reservation Deposits
A 1-night deposit is due at the time that the reservation is requested. Reservations without paid deposits will not be accepted. Deposits are refundable up until 24 hours before the reservation start date. Paying the deposit does not guarantee a reservation, you will receive an email once our staff has accepted your reservation.

Grooming and Training Appointments: We require 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Failure to give at least 24 hours' notice will result in a fee equal to 50% of the appointment cost. No-shows will be charged the full cost.
We require a completed application process, current vaccination records, and a credit card on file. There is a 3-night minimum reservation or charge for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Holidays. Cancellations during these three holiday periods must be made 72 hours prior to the first day of the reservation. Cancellations or changes within 72 hours will be charged for 1 night at the holiday rate.

Holiday Dates 2025
​We are closed to the public on New Year's Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas. There are no drop-offs, pick-ups, or daycare.
Our staff will still be on-site caring for all of the dogs and cats.

The dog boarding holiday rate is an additional $12/night for each room and requires a one-night deposit. The cat boarding holiday rate is an additional $7/night for each cat condo. Contact our office for an estimated quote for your boarding stay

Boarding Drop-off & Pick-up
Drop-off is from opening business hours until one hour before closing.

Pick-up for boarding is always by 12:00pm (noon). If you pick up after 12:00pm, a daycare charge will be applied. The daycare charge is waived if you have a grooming (full-service bath) appointment scheduled. ​

Office Closure

Our office is closed for 12PM-1PM Daily for lunch and cannot accommodate pick-ups or drop-offs at that time.

Boarding pets who are dropped off late (M–F: 5-6pm, Sat–Sun: 4-5pm) will incur a $15 charge. We do not accept drop-offs after closing.

If you need to extend a boarding reservation or change your dog's stay from daycare to boarding, please call our office for availability.

Fleas and Kennel Cough

We have a strict no-flea or kennel cough policy to ensure a clean, healthy, and comfortable environment for all our guests. If your pet arrives with fleas or showing symptoms of kennel cough, we’re unfortunately not able to accept them for their stay. Should fleas or cough symptoms be discovered while your pet is with us, you will be contacted and expected to pick up your pet until they are healthy and able to return without these conditions.

What to bring for your pet's stay​

We can provide bedding for your pet if you would like. We allow up to a maximum of 2 toys per pet. The toys must be safe for your pet without direct supervision - no tennis balls, or bones that could splinter off or cause risk of choking. We cannot guarantee that your property will come back in the same condition as you left it.
